Alfred Goldberg named to Business Review's 40 Under 40
2011-10-04 - Alfred Goldberg, President of Absolute Mobile Solutions, has been recognized in the Gulf Coast Business Review's 2011 40 Under 40 selections.
Each year, the Business Review selects 40 individuals under 40 years old from the business community. Carefully selected from nominations and original reporting, these individuals represent the best and brightest from Tampa to Naples.
In selecting this year's crop, the paper's editors looked for candidates who are entrepreneurial, even if they don't own their own businesses.
"There are a lot of publications that do similar lists each year," says Kat Hughes, Business Review managing editor. "We wanted our list to stand apart as a group of young professionals who aren?t afraid to take charge and take risks in their business. Absolute Mobile Solutions president Alfred Goldberg was recently invited to attend the Tampa General Hospital White Coat Internship. Mr. Goldberg was issued a TGH White Coat and spent the day shadowing doctors and surgeons around the hospital.
Mr. Goldberg had the unique opportunity to witness an open heart surgery first hand. In his own words, "This was an amazing experience. The operation took over four hours. The skill and dedication of the surgeon and his entire staff was nothing short of awesome."
Mr. Goldberg then spent the rest of his day following TGH Chief of Cardiology, Dr. John Sullebarger, as he performed several different procedures.

During the mission, Mr. Goldberg was allowed to spend time in the cockpit with the pilots as well as observe as the boom operator refueled F-15 fighter jets while in the air somewhere above Georgia.

Absolute was hired in July this year to produce the Android version of the German company?s music player and delivered the finished product in November.

The mufin Android project was secured through IT-Valueconsult, a German partner of Absolute. The project involved a two-person Absolute team working both in Absolute?s offices and on-site in Berlin.
Mufin?s advanced music software and services enables users to manage their music by sound, navigate music collections on sound maps and upload and store their own music collection in a virtual cloud.
?Mufin came to us because of work we have done with several other German companies?, said Alfred Goldberg, president of Absolute Mobile. ?We are probably a bigger player in Europe than we are in the US right now and a lot of that has to do with Android. We have developed Android apps for clients in France, Germany, Belgium and Australia in the past year. While a lot of attention has been given to iPhone apps, Android is actually a bigger platform now and a lot of companies are urgently looking for Android implementations of their applications. That has been good news for us.?
According to Gartner Android now has a 25% market share of smartphones worldwide while Apple?s iOS is at 15%. Android?s lead in the US is even greater.

2010-05-18 - Tampa, FL (May 18, 2010) -- The University of South Florida College of Medicine's Division of Infectious Disease and International Medicine recently launched the IDPodcasts Mobile Viewer, the first-ever "streaming media" iPhone application released by USF and the first infectious diseases mobile phone application developed under the State of Florida University System.
Co-developed by Dr. Richard Oehler, USF associate professor of medicine, and Dr. John T. Sinnott, director of the Division of Infectious Disease and International Medicine, the application permits on-demand streaming of infectious disease-related podcasts to any iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad through a WiFiconnection. A version compatible with either a WiFi or 3G connection should be released in the near future. The app is now available as a free download from the app store, permitting users to enjoy more than one hundred hours of infectious diseases content almost anywhere within range of an internet connection.
"Since 2007, our web site, IDPodcasts.net, has been a premiere remote learning resource for infectious diseases (ID) on the web. Having developed more than one hundred podcasts over the last three years, we are now a comprehensive resource for clinicians and students who are interested in developing their knowledge base in infectious diseases and public health," said Dr. Oehler. "Though our website receives several thousand hits per year and is already a leading infectious disease podcast series on the iTunes store, the IDPodcasts Mobile Viewer will bring the exceptional teaching of our USF ID and guest faculty to a whole new group of mobile users who will appreciate the capability to learn about infectious diseases anywhere on-the-go.
